Lettering Works Business Journal - November in Review

Business Journal: a place to celebrate wins & reflect - 47th Edition

November’s highlights included traveling to Paris and Amsterdam, seeing my products at the Milwaukee Art Museum Store, making some new personal artwork, and receiving the Typism 9 Book that features one of my lettering pieces.

Museum Store Sunday at the Milwaukee Art Museum:

The Big Wins

  • Traveled to Paris and Amsterdam with Daniel for a two-week vacation. Highlights of the trip included lots of delicious food, plenty of walking, thrift shopping, biking and taking public transit, and catching the Rothko exhibit. Get inspired by my photos here.

  • Saw my stickers at the Milwaukee Art Museum during Museum Store Sunday! I’ve always *loved* the Milwaukee Art Museum, especially since both my parents are from Milwaukee and I visit often to see family, including for Thanksgiving this year.

General Updates + Accomplishments:

  • Received the Typism 9 Book that features my work. My piece “Always Be Planning Your Next Trip” was one of the 190 selected pieces out of many thousands of entries.

  • Made some new personal artwork and potential designs for midwest museums. Inspiration from travels abroad always sparks my creativity.

  • Revealed new work for Gift of Hope and their Say Yes campaign that encourages 16 and 17-year-olds to become organ donors when they first get their license.

  • Skipped offering sales for Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday. Instead, I launched a new initiative to support other small business owners, which you can learn about and support here.

  • Celebrated 16 years post spinal fusion surgery that corrected my severe scoliosis. I also reflected on the six-year anniversary of launching the 100 Days of Peoria book.

  • Saw my products at O’Hare Airport via Hoypoloi Gallery. The shop wasn’t open when our flight to Paris was leaving, but my products were near the front, so I could see them through the window.

  • Attended four Broadway shows in Chicago: Company, Hamilton, Beetlejuice, and The Wiz. We’re also catching the Zoo Lights at Lincoln Park Zoo for the first time.

  • Began my new role as an Ambassador with Makers United Chicago. Makers United is dedicated to building a more vibrant and inclusive makers movement by providing support and resources. I look forward to strengthening our Chicago artist and maker community through this partnership.

Between vacation, getting sick, holiday travel and family time, there wasn’t too much time dedicated to working this month. I mostly enjoyed seeing past efforts come to fruition in various forms.

In December, I am most looking forward to a quick trip to Denver, spending more time with family, and finishing the year strong. I am currently open to new projects that can start in December or the new year.

Thank you for being here, for supporting me, and for following along with my entrepreneurial journey.
