Inspiration from Mexico City (2024)
New year, same prioritization of travel. Travel truly is an essential aspect of nurturing my creativity and providing endless inspiration for both my personal life and creative work practice. Daniel and I returned to Mexico City as a way to escape the cold weather of Chicago (I heard it was a negative 30 windchill and even Chicago Public Schools closed for a day while we were away, so we really got lucky on the timing) and get inspired for 2024.
For the second year in a row, this trip was a remote working trip and we skipped many of the amazing tourist attractions. We did enjoy a taco tour by bike and took time each day to explore and soak up all of the beauty and culture.
Highlights of the trip included trying lots of Mexican food and drinks (tepache, pulque, horchata and cocktails), going on the taco bike tour, exploring beautiful artisan markets, and enjoying the seventy-degree weather. This year, I walked 27,345 steps in a single day (up 1,345 steps from my record day last year). We returned to some of our favorite spots including Handshake, Pollos Poncho, Licorería Limantour, and Cafe Boicot and tried many new places as well.
I am continuing to enjoy that I’ve built a life that incorporates frequent travel and allows me to refuel my creativity often so that I can best serve my business and clients. It has truly helped me enjoy my work, avoid burnout, and come up with more creative designs, as I’m always considering multiple perspectives.
Here are some photos from the five-day trip that I hope will give you insight to the beauty of Mexico City and inspire you as as much as they have me:
