Lettering Works Launches New Activism Stickers Around Gun Reform and Abortion Rights
Enough is Enough. Gun reform is needed now more than ever.
With mass shootings happening daily in America, it is time to advocate for gun reform now more than ever. Our children aren’t safe. Our communities aren’t safe. Thoughts and prayers are not enough. Policy and change is needed and demanded.
To be honest, I’ve never wanted to create any sort of content or designs around guns. I’ve never liked them. But recent and frequent shootings are making it apparent that more conversations need to be had. More action needs to be taken. While stickers are by no means the solution, they can play a key part in sparking conversations and much needed dialogue on relevant issues.
Something stood out to me after the Highland Park shooting on July 4, 2022 and it was that there were comments and a sentiment of “this isn’t supposed to happen here” under the premise that it was a rich suburb of Chicago. It truly made me wonder… where are mass shootings supposed to happen? I believe they should not happen anywhere and we as a society need to advocate for that to be the case.
It is hard to witness guns gain more rights than women’s bodies. It is hard to process. It is hard to know how to take meaningful action. I would encourage you to get out and vote. During major elections but also local ones. Nothing changes if nothing changes. Let’s all be part of the change in whatever way we can.
While I deeply wish that this collection of advocacy and activism designs was not needed, I hope they serve a purpose and provide value in this ever evolving dialogue around gun rights and gun reform.
A look at the designs:
Introducing More Inclusive Abortion Designs
You may have seen our previous pro choice and abortion designs, which were actually developed as part of a Women’s Rights collection launched back in December 2020. While many of the sentiments still ring true and are relevant to recent developments, including the overturning of Roe v. Wade, I wanted to develop more inclusive designs that are more relevant to recent events and inclusive of all people with a uterus.
