Designs for a Cause
Featured Project: Cool Beans
Cool Beans offers a playful and creative approach to raising awareness for Kidney Disease while providing encouragement to kidney patients and advocates. Helping them feel hopeful and ready to more fully embrace their unique health journey.
You have causes that are woven into your life and the lives of your close friends and family members. Maybe they relate to chronic illness, cancer, advocacy, or social justice. Chances are, you might not have known about their importance before they affected you personally, but now that these causes are a part of who you are - you can’t help but do everything in your power to get that important cause the attention it deserves. Sound familiar?
Lettering Works believes in taking action to support the causes closest to our heart.
We value local art, small business initiatives, advocating for those with chronic illness and disabilities, and empowering women, and we show it through collaboration.
If our causes align, we’d love to have you join our movement. If you have a different cause you care about and would like creative support on, learn more about our custom lettering and artwork or branding services.

Passion Projects for a Cause
OUT THE BLOCK EXPERIENCE
Lettering Works offered a variety of designs, including reimagined logos and custom merchandise, as an in-kind donation to support the work of Kim Durden, founder of Out the Block Experience and Divine Dine Food Tours.
MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS
Accepting neurodiversity, using therapy as a tool, and ending the stigma. Lettering Works aims to promote positivity around therapy and prioritizing mental health in different forms. The designs are meant to be conversation starters and contribute to the ever-evolving, overarching need for more emphasis to be placed on mental health.
Steph’s Stickers
A collaborative passion project with Peoria resident, Steph Perry, who has autism and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome among other disabilities. The project aims to promote awareness and positivity that transcends any abilities or disabilities.
Hand Letter West Main
Local creatives, Chelsie & Sarah, beautify West Main Street through creatively updating handwritten signage in local businesses’ storefronts and show the difference intentional design can make through professional photography.
Restoring Hope Transplant House
Restoring Hope Transplant House is a non-profit home away from home for transplant families at UW Hospital and the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.
Girl Power Collection
The Girl Power Collection combines the best of Lettering Works and Unpolished Press into one, ultimately promoting positivity around females and supporting each other. Bright colored stickers carefully designed to inspire girls everywhere.
Arts Partners
With a mission to build awareness and strengthen the arts for the economic and cultural enrichment of Central Illinois, Arts Partners strives to make the community a better place for artists working to make a living doing what they love. It’s a mission we’ve been behind since the start of Lettering Works. Chelsie speaks annually at their Business of Art Conference.
PEDESTRIAN BY CHOICE
In a world where wheels dominate the roads and speed is often favored over serenity, a distinctive movement is gaining momentum – that of the pedestrian by choice. Beyond mere transport, it's a philosophy, a stride of independence, and a conscious step towards health, sustainability, and a more connected existence.
DISABILITY PRIDE
Through the Disability Pride Collection, Lettering Works aims to promote acceptance over awareness, while empowering those of the disabled community to unapologetically be who they are, take up space, and dismantle ableism.
Chronically positive
Spreading and fostering a mindset of intentional positivity in a thoughtful way that relates directly to a population that is experiencing heightened stress as a result of increased health concerns.
100 Days of Chicago
We’re spending 100 days showcasing local businesses, attractions, and events through the development of representative designs. Following suit with 100 Days of Peoria, this new iteration will put lettering and illustration to work to explore and appreciate all that our Chicago has to offer.
Candid Covid Cards
A tongue-in-cheek take on “thinking of you” cards made to remind everyone to keep social distancing. We hope they’ll make you (and whoever you send them to) smile while reminding you to be safe.
20 Days of Coloring
During a time of many shelter-in-place orders across the United States and beyond, it is now more important than ever to get creative and surround ourselves with positivity, while staying at home as much as possible. Coloring pages are a great activity for adults and kids alike. These specially designed pages are a mix of new designs and some of Lettering Works’ most popular designs.
Together We Work
We designed hand-lettered lyrics to accompany Josiah Williams' new song "Together We Work" for inclusion in both an interactive art exhibit and music video.
