Hey there! If we haven’t met yet, I’m Chelsie - a business-savvy lettering artist, designer, and educator.

Since starting my business Lettering Works in 2016, I’ve created art products (like greeting cards and stickers), designed murals, worked on large-scale campaigns, taught lettering and branding workshops, and even self-published two books. My work is sold in local gift shops around Chicago and Peoria including the Field Museum, Chicago History Museum, Peoria International Airport, and Wrigleyville Sports.

After teaching countless lettering workshops, I am excited to translate lots of lettering knowledge into this new online course format. I hope taking things virtual increases accessibility and you enjoy learning this new way with me.

  • This course is specifically designed for beginners and hobbyists. It can also be valuable to artists who want to incorporate lettering into their work.

  • 100% virtual and self-paced. Once you enroll, you'll get on-demand access to all six core lessons as well as the bonus lessons.

  • The course is an expanded version of in-person workshops that typically lasted anywhere from 1.5-2 hours. There are roughly 20 videos in the course ranging from a few minutes to just under 10 minutes each. There are also PDF guides and worksheets to help you learn.

    The length of time to complete the course will vary person to person based on how long you spend sketching and practicing the concepts taught.

  • You have the option to make a one-time payment or split your payment into two, equal payments.

  • This course is designed for beginners and no prior experience or fancy tools are needed.

  • It's a myth that you need good handwriting to be good at lettering! Lettering truly is drawing letters (not writing them), so you are encouraged to take this course even if you feel you have terrible handwriting.

  • Since this course is designed for beginners, so it's possible that this course will be too basic for you. Many artists have enjoyed participating in our workshops and benefitted from the information shared. It's a great opportunity to learn if you'd like to incorporate lettering into your work (and don't already have extensive experience with lettering). It also never hurts to revisit the basics!
